Softball Preview: Alton Comets vs. Bloomfield Wildcats

The Alton Comets will challenge the Bloomfield Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Alton gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Ellington. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Whippets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Emma Cauthen spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits.

On the hitting side, Alton got a big performance out of Brayleigh Campbell, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Campbell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Trantham, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Friday. Bloomfield put the hurt on Winona with a sharp 15-5 win. Bloomfield not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 16-1).

Alton now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Bloomfield, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.
