Basketball Game Preview: North Buncombe Black Hawks vs. Pisgah Bears + Official Tickets

North Buncombe is 0-3 against Pisgah since December of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Black Hawks will look to defend their home court against the Bears at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

North Buncombe is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home last Friday. They really took it to Owen for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-10 win. With the Black Hawks ahead 56-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Grace Parker was a one-woman wrecking crew as she shot 75% from the field on her way to 18 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Those five assists gave her a new career-high. Lily Metcalf was another key player, going 5-for-8 en route to 9 points and five steals.

North Buncombe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Pisgah had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They snuck past Asheville School (Independent) with a 52-48 victory on Tuesday.

North Buncombe was dealt a bruising 69-40 loss at the hands of Pisgah in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Black Hawks were down 41-19.
