Baseball Recap: Canyon Crest Academy Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

The third road contest was the charm for Canyon Crest Academy, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Oceanside Pirates on Monday, sneaking past 3-2. This was payback for the Ravens, who suffered a 4-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jinho Bae looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryan Shah, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Canyon Crest Academy is 2-0-1 when Shah posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Henry Schmidt was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Canyon Crest Academy's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3-1. As for Oceanside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canyon Crest Academy will face off against Westview at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westview's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Canyon Crest Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Oceanside, they will be taking part in a tournament against San Dieguito Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
