High school football: Five-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey playing senior season at Menlo-Atherton

One of the best players in high school football — Jurrion Dickey — announced via Twitter on Monday he's staying home and playing his senior season at Menlo-Atherton (Atherton, Calif.). The former Valley Christian (San Jose) standout was selected to the 2021 MaxPreps Junior All-America second team after hauling in 78 receptions for 1,304 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Dickey is the second-rated wide receiver according to 247Sports player rankings for the Class of 2023 and committed to Oregon in May. The five-star recruit checks in as the 14th-rated player overall and fourth in California.

He'll be a huge addition for a Bears team that went 9-3 last season and won nine of their last 10 games. They had their nine-game win streak snapped by St. Francis (Mountain View) in the CIF Division 1 Central Coast Section semifinals.

Menlo-Atherton needs to replace a lot of seniors but has one of the best two-way lineman in Northern California returning in 2023 Washington commit Soane Faasolo.

Dickey tweeted today was his first practice with his new team and they are scheduled to open the season on Aug. 27 vs. Bellarmine College Prep (San Jose).

Initial reports came out that Dickey was transferring to Mater Dei (Santa Ana) but that never came to fruition and he will finish his high school career in the 650.
