Softball Game Preview: East Bladen Eagles vs. Pender Patriots

For the second straight game, East Bladen will face off against Pender. East Bladen will be playing at home against Pender at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Bladen has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

East Bladen managed to slip by Pender the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. East Bladen lost 12-1 to Pender on Tuesday. The Eagles' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

For Pender's part, Jayda Tozour was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Tozour a new career-high. Katie Iddings was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Pender hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive matches.

Pender's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for East Bladen, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
