Basketball Recap: St. Mary's-Colgan Panthers vs. Baxter Springs Lions
The St. Mary's-Colgan Panthers won the last time they faced the Baxter Springs Lions, and things went their way on Tuesday too. St. Mary's-Colgan walked away with a 48-37 victory over the Lions. Given St. Mary's-Colgan's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Lions are ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Mary's-Colgan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tucker Harrell, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Schremmer, who scored 14 points.
The win makes it two in a row for St. Mary's-Colgan and bumps their season record up to 13-2. As for Baxter Springs, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
St. Mary's-Colgan will head out on the road to square off against the Titans on Friday. Columbus and the Panthers are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
