Baseball Recap: Santa Fe Indian Takes a Loss

Santa Fe Indian had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 12-10 to make it six. They came up short against the West Las Vegas Dons, falling 9-1. The Braves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dons earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Santa Fe Indian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathaniel Aguilar, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for West Las Vegas, their record now sits at 16-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

On West Las Vegas' side, the team relied heavily on Estevan Collins, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. What's more, Collins posted two runs, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Ortega, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Santa Fe Indian and West Las Vegas are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Braves will face off against Hatch Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Santa Fe Indian's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for West Las Vegas, they will take on Navajo Prep on Friday. The Dons will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last seven games.
