Basketball Game Preview: Deering Rams vs. Portland Bulldogs

The Deering Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Portland Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Deering made easy work of Sanford and carried off a 76-56 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Portland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They skirted past Bangor 49-46. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Deering is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Portland, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-7.

Deering came up short against Portland when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 56-52. Can Deering avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
