Penn Cambria is 0-8 against Central since April of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will host the Dragons at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Central will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Penn Cambria extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 23-11 margin over Bishop Carroll. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Ayden Himmer, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Kyle Conrad, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.
Penn Cambria kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Central made easy work of Greater Johnstown on Thursday and carried off a 23-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Central got a massive performance out of Kyle Klotz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Hoenstine, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Penn Cambria's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Penn Cambria hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .383. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Penn Cambria might still be hurting after the 15-6 loss they got from Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
