Softball Recap: Wilder Starts Season with Win Against Greenleaf Friends Academy

Wilder took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Greenleaf Friends Academy Grizzlies as the Wilder Wildcats made off with a 20-10 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Wilder let M. Lopez and S. Longest run wild. Lopez scored four runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Longest scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave Lopez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was G. Esparza, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-5.

Coincidentally, Wilder and Greenleaf Friends Academy will both be playing Notus the next time they take the field. Greenleaf Friends Academy will head out to face Notus at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, while Wilder will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
