Basketball Recap: Cottonwood Continues Home Dominance on Friday

There's no place like home for Cottonwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past the Hillcrest Huskies 60-38 on Friday. The Colts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cottonwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carley Caton, who went 5 of 11 en route to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Workman, who posted 13 points along with five assists and five boards.

Cottonwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Hillcrest still got an impressive performance from Bella Christensen, who put up ten points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Back, who had seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Cottonwood's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Hillcrest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Cottonwood is taking a road trip to face off against Stansbury at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Hillcrest, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-33 defeat against Tooele on the 14th.
