This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Pinecrest (95th in the state) and Richmond (62nd). Pinecrest has to be hurting after a devastating 28 - 7 defeat at the hands of Richmond. Pinecrest plummeted 507 positions in the national rankings after the loss.
Can't Touch This
Cape Fear was heavily favored to win coming into its game last week, and the results showcase why. The final score between it and Douglas Byrd was a 52 - 0 blowout in Cape Fear's favor. No one had a larger role in the success than junior Zaire Boykin, who brought his A game into the contest. He ran for 138 yards and also punched in one touchdown. In fact, our algorithms singled out Boykin as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
