Baseball Game Preview: Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks vs. Berkley Bears

For the second straight game, Bloomfield Hills will face off against Berkley. The Black Hawks will face off against the Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomfield Hills hasn't scored more than two runs for five games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Bloomfield Hills managed to slip by Berkley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Black Hawks lost 8-2 to the Bears on Monday.

For Berkley's part, Will Schmidt made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Schmidt was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drew Sermo, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sam Sermo, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Berkley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bloomfield Hills only managed five hits.

Bloomfield Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Berkley, their record now sits at 7-12.
