Softball Recap: Riverside Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Riverside waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Blue Ridge Raiders 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Addie Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Smith was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Riverside got a massive performance out of Mackenzie Keller, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Keller a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Merrifield, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Riverside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blue Ridge struck out seven times.

The victory got Riverside back to even at 6-6. As for Blue Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside will take on Old Forge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Blue Ridge, they will square off against Mountain View at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
