Baseball Recap: Coronado Drops Highest Score of Season Against the Meadows School

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coronado). They put the hurt on The Meadows School Mustangs with a sharp 14-4 victory on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Diego Pena looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Milano Bradley, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Seth Asare also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Coronado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Coronado and bumps their season record up to 8-15. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for The Meadows School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, Coronado and The Meadows School will both be playing Chaparral the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will head out to face the Cowboys at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Cougars will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
