Football Recap: St. Paul Falls to Kearney Catholic in First Game of Season

St. Paul had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against the Kearney Catholic Stars on Friday, falling 37-14. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Stars: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, St. Paul still got an impressive performance from Zandyn Weller, who picked up 79 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 68 yards. Weller really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 79 yards.

Jacob Bosshamer was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 175 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 16 passes.

Looking ahead, St. Paul will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Raymond Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kearney Catholic, they will take on Ord on Friday.
