The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons will head out to take on the Dwight Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley got the win against Paxton-Buckley-Loda by a conclusive 15-1. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Falcons this season.

Mallory Rosendahl made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Izzy Gawthrop and Bailey Bunting did most of the damage at the plate: Gawthrop scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Bunting went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Gawthrop also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Jillian Rosendahl was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paxton-Buckley-Loda only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dwight). They blew past El Paso-Gridley 22-6 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.
The team relied heavily on Mckenna Woodcock, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Frobish, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI.
Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley's record now sits at 5-1. As for Dwight, their record is now 3-4.
