Football Game Preview: Bloomsburg Panthers vs. Loyalsock Township Lancers

Bloomsburg is 1-8 against Loyalsock Township since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. Bloomsburg will be strutting in after a win while Loyalsock Township will be coming in after a defeat.

Bloomsburg's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 46-0 victory over Central Columbia. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Jharee Moore-Stewart and Wyatt Brosious were among the main playmakers for Bloomsburg as the former picked up 100 receiving yards and three touchdowns and the latter threw for 137 yards and three TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. Shane Frey got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Loyalsock Township played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Montoursville and fell 52-14. The Lancers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-7.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed eight in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Nahmir Thomas, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Bloomsburg's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.0 points on average over those games. As for Loyalsock Township, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Bloomsburg couldn't quite get it done against Loyalsock Township when the teams last played back in September as they fell 32-23. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
