Preview: The Colony vs. Wakeland
The Colony Cougars will look to defend their home pitch on Tuesday against the Wakeland Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. The Colony will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Wakeland is ranked fifth).
After a string of three wins, The Colony's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. Their tough 3-0 defeat to Lone Star might stick with them for a while.
In what's become a running theme this season, Wakeland gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They never let Frisco onto the board and left with a 3-0 win. Wakeland's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.
The Colony's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4-2. As for Wakeland, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0-1.
The Colony came out on top in a nail-biter against Wakeland when the teams last played back in March of 2023, sneaking past 1-0. Will The Colony repeat their success, or does Wakeland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
