Softball Recap: Rye Cove Eagles vs. Castlewood Blue Devils
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against J.I. Burton, Rye Cove was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Castlewood Blue Devils a 5-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Blue Devils back in April, they had to take a 6-5 loss.

Not much got past Allison Akers, who gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Castlewood off the board. Akers has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jasmine Stanley was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Byrd, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Rye Cove's win bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Castlewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.
Rye Cove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Castlewood, they will welcome Eastside at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
