Softball Game Preview: Sumter Gamecocks vs. Ridge View Blazers

The Sumter Gamecocks will head out on the road to challenge the Ridge View Blazers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sumter has three straight wins, Ridge View has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Sumter proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 14) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Latta get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory.

The result came thanks to Lillie Ivey's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Ridge View fell victim to Blythewood and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 7-0 to the Bengals.

Sumter's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Ridge View, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
