Softball Recap: Cherokee Indians vs. Lynn Bears

Cherokee extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Lynn. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lynn Bears a 13-0 shutout. Considering Cherokee has won 25 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carli Sparks made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Sparks has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Sparks was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Libby Collum was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lazaria Mason, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Cherokee has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 31-20 record this season. As for Lynn, their defeat dropped their record down to 24-14-1.
