Basketball Recap: Colonial Heights Comes Up Short

Colonial Heights lost against Mechanicsville back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Colonial Heights Colonials were dealt a 65-22 loss at the hands of the Mechanicsville Mustangs. The Colonials' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Mechanicsville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madeline Frantz, who went 6-for-13 on her way to 16 points. Frantz is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 46% in the last four games she's played. Carys Khan was another key player, putting up nine points and seven steals.

Colonial Heights' loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Mechanicsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colonial Heights will host Dinwiddie at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mechanicsville, they and Spotsylvania will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. Mechanicsville is facing Spotsylvania at the right time seeing as Spotsylvania is stuck on a 17-game losing streak.
