Softball Recap: Westview Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Westview proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 15) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Calexico Bulldogs 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Wolverines sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Westview's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Deng, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Westview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in six consecutive games.

Westview's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Calexico, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Westview wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 2-2 tie against University City on the 22nd. As for Calexico, they have also already played their next game, a 6-2 win against Madison on the 22nd.
