Southwestern recap September 17, 2013
Great Oak scaled the state rankings by moving to 145 from 208 this week, the biggest jump in Southwestern. The Wolfpack climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Rancho Verde 43-42.
Temecula Valley took down Lakeside 40-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kyle Plantier threw for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win.
Aaron Young was the best wideout in the league this week as Murrieta Valley topped Roosevelt. Young racked up 7 receptions for 141 yards.
Michael Robles was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 207 yards on 27 carries as the Nighthawks bested the Mustangs. Teammate Jordan Silva added to the ground attack by rushing for 46 yards.
Plantier put up the best numbers in passing as the Golden Bears topped the Lancers. Plantier's favorite target this week was Kumar Kilambi, who caught 4 passes for 67 yards.
Coltin Gerhart was a passing and rushing force as Vista Murrieta beat Yucaipa. He completed 6 passes for 59 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 189 yards.
He went 8-13 with 0 interceptions.
6-foot-0 quarterback Peyton Uhl of Murrieta Mesa is the league leader in passing yards this season with 660. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Young. The Murrieta Valley star has 13 catches for 266 yards.
Great Oak and the Mustangs played the most contested game in Southwestern this week, with Great Oak eventually emerging with a 43-42 victory.
