Basketball Preview: Holy Family Tigers vs. Longmont Trojans

The Holy Family Tigers will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Longmont Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th. Holy Family knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully the Trojans like a good challenge.

Holy Family can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. They breezed by Centaurus on the road to the tune of 67-31. Given Holy Family's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Warriors are ranked 186th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Holy Family got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jennifer Altshuler out in front who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Alexcia Oaxaca, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Longmont's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight defeat. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to Greeley Central.

Holy Family pushed their record up to 17-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Longmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Everything went Holy Family's way against the Trojans in their previous matchup back in January as the Tigers made off with a 56-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holy Family since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
