            Softball Recap: Spring Creek Gators vs. Goldsboro Cougars        
        
		
        
        
            While Spring Creek's  win against Goldsboro wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Spring Creek sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  13-12  victory over Goldsboro  on Thursday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Gators' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
 Sarah Hess made a big impact no matter where she played. She  struck out 16 batters over  seven innings while giving up  four earned  (and eight unearned) runs off   five  hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring three  runs and  stealing five bases while going 2-for-3.

 In other batting news, Spring Creek got a  massive  performance out of  Kylie Conpropst, who  scored two  runs and  stole six bases while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances. Those  six  stolen bases gave  Conpropst a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Heather Alexander, who  scored three  runs while going 4-for-5.
 Spring Creek was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .391. That's the best  batting average they've posted all season.
Spring Creek's  win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-2. As for Goldsboro,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 2-4.
 Looking ahead, Spring Creek will face off against Beddingfield at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Beddingfield has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.29  runs per game on average), something Spring Creek will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Goldsboro, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  game,  a  16-1  victory against Southern Wayne on the 31st.
