Basketball Recap: Valley Forge Takes a Loss

Valley Forge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 25th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Rocky River Pirates, falling 66-26. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 758th, while the Pirates are ranked 120th).

When it comes to explaining why Valley Forge lost, don't look at Gracie Kercher. Despite the final result, she posted eight points.

Rocky River's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elizabeth Lang, who scored 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Olivia Dewey, who earned 13 points and six steals.

Valley Forge's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Rocky River, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4.

Valley Forge will venture away from home to challenge Westlake at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Valley Forge is facing Westlake at the right time seeing as Westlake is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Rocky River, they will host Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bay has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
