Baseball Recap: Beckville Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

It's playoff time, and Beckville had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the McLeod Longhorns get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Aiden Brantley made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Braxton Bullock and Jackson Lambright did most of the damage at the plate: Bullock went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Lambright went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two doubles gave Bullock a new career-high. Aiden Harris was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Beckville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Beckville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for McLeod, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Beckville beat the Longhorns by a score of 11-1 later that day.
