Basketball Recap: Boldyn Rimmer Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Escondido

There's no place like home for Escondido Charter, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They managed a 49-45 victory over the Escondido Cougars on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Escondido Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Boldyn Rimmer, who posted 17 points and three steals. What's more, Rimmer also racked up four boards, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Joe Scates, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Escondido Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Defeat or not, Escondido got some senior leadership from Nathan James and Danny Valadez. James had 12 points in addition to five boards and five steals, while Valadez put up eight points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Mendoza, who posted six points along with five rebounds and three blocks.

Escondido Charter pushed their record up to 4-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Escondido, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3.

Escondido Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-53 victory against Mt. Carmel on the 26th. As for Escondido, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-26 win against Liberty Charter on the 30th.
