Baseball Recap: Shenandoah Valley Has No Trouble Against Williams Valley

While Shenandoah Valley didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Williams Valley Vikings 10-2 on Thursday. Considering the Blue Devils have won three matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Brayden Maksimik made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Brayden Lutz was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jostin Lajara, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

The win made it two in a row for Shenandoah Valley and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Williams Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Shenandoah Valley will square off against Panther Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shenandoah Valley is facing Panther Valley at the right time seeing as Panther Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Williams Valley, they are taking a road trip to square off against Weatherly at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
