The Whitmire Wolverines are taking a road trip to square off against the Dixie Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
While Whitmire's victory against Thornwell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Whitmire came out on top in a nail-biter against Thornwell on Friday, sneaking past 12-10. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Crue Keller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, Dalton Williams was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ashton Alexander, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Whitmire always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Dixie came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They didn't even let the Chiefs on the board, marking their second-straight 15-0 shutout. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Dixie's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Whitmire, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Whitmire might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Dixie when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Whitmire avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
