Basketball Game Preview: Morgan Trojans vs. Grantsville Cowboys

The Morgan Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Grantsville Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Morgan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Friday, Morgan made easy work of Ogden and carried off a 69-44 win. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Tigers are ranked 79th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Bracken Saunders, who went 8 for 14 en route to 20 points and eight boards. Jake Hansen was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Morgan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Grantsville came up short against Union on Friday and fell 58-49. The loss continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Grantsville's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9. As for Morgan, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1.

Morgan strolled past Grantsville in their previous matchup on January 10th by a score of 70-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morgan since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
