Softball Game Preview: Bald Eagle Area Eagles vs. South Williamsport Mountaineers

The Bald Eagle Area Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the South Williamsport Mountaineers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

South Williamsport's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Bald Eagle Area hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Eagles never let Bishop Carroll get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Tuesday. The contest marked the Eagles' most dominant win of the season so far.

Sierra Albright was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Raelee Repasky, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Kailey Eckert was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Bald Eagle Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, South Williamsport had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Bulldogs.

South Williamsport pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Bald Eagle Area, their record is now 8-3.

Bald Eagle Area couldn't quite get it done against South Williamsport in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
