Softball Recap: Edmonds-Woodway Beats Archbishop Murphy for Their Third Straight Victory

Edmonds-Woodway barely beat Archbishop Murphy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Wildcats on Wednesday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Ella Campbell made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noa Gillespie, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Ava Whisenhunt also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

The win (which was Edmonds-Woodway's third in a row) raised their record to 8-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Murphy, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edmonds-Woodway will venture away from home to take on Shorecrest at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Archbishop Murphy, they will head out to square off against Glacier Peak at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
