Baseball Game Preview: New York Mills Eagles vs. Cherry Tigers

The New York Mills Eagles will face off against the Cherry Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.

New York Mills fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Pillager on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 6-4. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Cherry waltzed into their contest on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Lumberjacks with a sharp 11-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Cherry pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for New York Mills, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

New York Mills was able to grind out a solid win over Cherry when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 9-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
