Whiteland posted their closest win since April 13, 2024 on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Perry Meridian Falcons 5-4. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 7-4 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Peyton Wingfield tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Whiteland got a massive performance out of Isaac Phegley, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that Phegley has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maalik Perkins, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Whiteland and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Perry Meridian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Whiteland will have a chance to go back-to-back against Perry Meridian: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
