Softball Game Preview: ROWVA/Galva/Williamsfield Mid County Cougars vs. Delavan Panthers

ROWVA/Galva/Williamsfield is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will host the Delavan Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

After dropping their season opener at home, Delavan is headed out to face a Mid County Cougars squad ready to give their home crowd a win. ROWVA/Galva/Williamsfield lost 14-3 to Alleman two weeks ago.

Heyworth hit Delavan with a four-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 7-5.

Lainey Klokkenga was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Kara Lowry was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Everything went ROWVA/Galva/Williamsfield's way against Delavan in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, as ROWVA/Galva/Williamsfield made off with a 12-2 victory. Will the Mid County Cougars repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
