Baseball Recap: General Brown Gets the Win

The General Brown Lions earned a 9-5 win over the Alexandria Central Purple Ghosts on Monday.

Jackson Ward was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ward was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brock McManaman, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Doldo, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

General Brown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

General Brown's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Alexandria Central, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Looking ahead, General Brown is taking a road trip to challenge Lowville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Raiders will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. Alexandria Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
