Basketball Recap: Lakeside School Takes a Loss

Lakeside School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Macon-East Montgomery Academy Knights 58-24. The Chiefs lost against the Knights in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 41-38 score last time.

Leading Macon-East Montgomery Academy to victory were Miya Tatum and Jamiyah Powell. Tatum went 9 for 17 on her way to 26 points in addition to eight steals and seven boards, while Powell dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 boards. The match was Powell's third in a row with at least ten points.

Lakeside School's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeside School will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Abbeville Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Edgewood Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th.
