Basketball Recap: Halstead's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Thursday

Halstead won the last time they faced Larned and things went their way on Thursday too. The Halstead Dragons strolled past the Larned Indians with points to spare, taking the game 47-31. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Indians are ranked 72nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Halstead's victory bumped their record up to 8-0-1. As for Larned, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3.

Halstead will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Abilene at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th. As for Larned, they will square off against St. John on Tuesday. St. John's defense has only allowed 27.5 points per game this season, so Larned's offense will have their work cut out for them.
