Windermere came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 16-4 to Lake Minneola.
Lauren Harper made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. Lilyan Baker was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mount Dora, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against The Villages Charter on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-4. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Canes as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Skylar Colas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mckynna Hunter, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Mount Dora hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Windermere's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Mount Dora, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.
Windermere's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Wolverines have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mount Dora, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Windermere continue to outrun the ball?
