Softball Recap: Ahoskie Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Pamlico Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ahoskie Christian). They blew past the Pamlico Christian Academy Mariners 20-7 on Thursday. Considering Ahoskie Christian has won ten contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Casey Piland and Keira Lassiter were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Piland tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lassiter struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. At the plate, Piland went 1-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Lassiter went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Ahoskie Christian got a massive performance out of Lilli Farmer, who went 3-for-6 with four runs, one triple, and one double. Those four runs gave Farmer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kinsley Dunlow, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Ahoskie Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.

Ahoskie Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Pamlico Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Ahoskie Christian will welcome New Bern Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on the 25th. Pamlico Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
