St. John-Vianney won the last time they faced Red Bank Regional and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Lancers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bucs 2-1. That's two games straight that the Lancers have won by just one run.

Eli Calderone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, St. John-Vianney's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mike McCormack, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. That run marked the first that McCormack scored this season.

St. John-Vianney's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Red Bank Regional, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
