Softball Recap: St. Pauls Has No Trouble Against Red Springs

St. Pauls won the last time they faced Red Springs and things went their way on Friday too. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Red Devils. Considering the Bulldogs have won four matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

St. Pauls got a great performance from Zavannah Locklear as she pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Angel Purcell was incredible, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. Aniyah Locklear was another key player, scoring four runs while going 2-for-3.

St. Pauls is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Red Springs, they dropped their record down to 0-13 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. St. Pauls will square off against rival Fairmont at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Red Springs is set to challenge their familiar foe Clinton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
