Aniyah Moreno leads a balanced attack to beat Middleton

Recap: Armwood Hawks vs. Middleton Tigers

Make it nine blowout wins for the Armwood Hawks this season. They blew past Middleton 71-50. Winning may never get old, but Armwood sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Armwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aniyah Moreno led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moreno has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Na'Chauncia Welch, who scored 16 points along with three steals.

Despite the loss, Middleton still got an impressive performance from Ayanna Blake, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Blake is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Anaja Griffin was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Armwood is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Middleton, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Armwood's road trip will continue as they head out to face Blake at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Blake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 475th, while Armwood is ranked 161st). As for Middleton, Middleton and Jefferson will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Jefferson has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 25.
