Volleyball Game Preview: Chariho Chargers vs. Cranston East Thunderbolts

The Chariho Chargers will head out to take on the Cranston East Thunderbolts at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chariho will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Bishop Hendricken came into Tuesday's matchup looking for another win against Chariho, but Jaxson Vachon wouldn't allow it. The Chargers came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday for which the team can thank Vachon, who had 19 digs and three aces. He has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 15 times he's played.

Chariho had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 28-30, 26-24, 27-25, 25-21.

Chariho's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Stolt, who had eight kills, five digs, and four aces. Those four aces gave Stolt a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Chariho was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Cranston East faced La Salle Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Thunderbolts put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 3-0 win.

Cranston East now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Chariho, their record is now 5-2.

Chariho might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Cranston East in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
