Baseball Recap: Northeast Jones Takes a Loss

It was a classic East v. West duel when Northeast Jones faced off against West Jones on Friday. Northeast Jones fell just short of West Jones by a score of 7-5. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 15-2.

Kade Mozingo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Kaden Padgett was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Brayden Hayes was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Northeast Jones and nudges their season record down to 9-6-1. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for West Jones, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Northeast Jones didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-3 victory against Taylorsville on the 22nd. As for West Jones, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 9-4 loss against Seminary on the 22nd.
