Basketball Recap: Legacy Academy Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

After losing to Dora the last time they met, Legacy Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Legacy Academy Silverbacks took down the Dora Coyotes 51-34 on Friday. The Silverbacks pushed the score to 39-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Coyotes cut but never quite recovered from.

Legacy Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but David Lavery led the charge by going 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryant Scales, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards.

Legacy Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Legacy Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.9 points per game. As for Dora, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-11.

Coincidentally, Legacy Academy and Dora will both be playing Elida the next time they take the court. Legacy Academy will head out to face Elida at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Dora will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
