Football Recap: Wyoming Area Extends Winning Streak to Four

Wyoming Area won the last time they faced Pittston and things went their way on Friday too. The Warriors enjoyed a cozy 41-22 victory over the Patriots. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

It was another big night for Nick Ciampi, who rushed for 226 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Jack Gravine was another major influence, as he rushed for 56 yards and ran in a TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wyoming Area was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 348 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 238 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Another reason for the win was Wyoming Area's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Ben Gravine was the leader with two.

Brody Spindler and Lucas Lo Presto certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Spindler rushed for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, while Lo Presto gained 128 total yards and a touchdown. Spindler also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making five total tackles.

Wyoming Area's record is now 9-1. As for Pittston, they moved to 8-2 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wyoming Area will face off against Scranton Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pittston, they will challenge Delaware Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Spindler and Michael Iuzzolino.
